ABOUT THE ART:
“Eyes are the Windows to the Soul.”
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”
These are two famous quotes about eyes. When I was younger eyes were a favorite art subject of mine. Unfortunately I wasn’t that great at drawing them. They looked deformed or misshapen or just plain crazy. It was obvious that I needed a lot of practice, so I found it. Eyes are small things to draw and I needed all the help I could get. So since I was sitting in one boring class after another in high school and later, in college, I would take the time and draw eyes in the margins. I sometimes come across old notebooks from college and as I flip through them I see drawings of eyes, noses, lips and ears, as well as, fingers and hands, all drawn on different days in the margins. As I look back on it now it is an amazing reminder that working hard to get better at something is the most noble of endeavours.
“The Eye” is a 5″ x 5″ porcelain tile framed in a 2″ wooden frame, giving a finished size of 6.25″ x 6.25″.
DETAILS AND CARE OF PIECE:
This beautifully versatile piece looks great:
- Displayed on an easel indoors or outdoors in areas such as a living room, entryway or even on your porch or patio,
- Hung in a beautiful frame onto a favorite wall in your home,
- Or even more exciting, installing this piece in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry as a permanent piece that can be enjoyed for years.
Each of my tiles are primed with 2-3 coats of gesso, painted in acrylics and is finished with epoxy resin, making it a very versatile piece that is heat, cold and moisture resistant.
This piece is backed by a thick layer of black felt. This gives the tile extra stability but care is needed because it is ceramic tile and capable of breaking.
To clean, wipe with a damp cloth.
Orders are processed 1-2 days after purchase. Each order is shipped FREE by USPS Flat Rate 2-3 Day Shipping.
Please Note: I try to photograph in the best lighting possible, so colors can vary based on the electronic device. Some photos are taken without resin applied because lighting can sometimes cause a glare to the tiles. But, rest assured, your finished piece will have a beautiful, shiny resin finish.
