One Twilight Christmas

One winter evening a lonely pine stood. As darkness comes, snowflakes fall, like they are giving tiny kisses to each pine needle. As the night grows darker, lights begin to glow on the snow grows brighter in colors of red, green and blue. It is a light that shines on a tree that would otherwise be swallowed up by the darkness. That is what I love most about the winter. The days may be shorter and the nights may be longer, but with the snow it becomes a magical time that gives new life to an otherwise cold and dead world.

This tree reminds me of the Christmas’ that I would spend at my grandmother’s house. She had large bay windows in her dining room and in the family room, and outside were large trees and cedar bushes in her yard. Snow would fall and would cover them in a white blanket that would transform her farm into a winter wonderland. As the day turned quickly into night, the moon reflecting off the snow would become a light source with a beauty all its own.

One Twilight Christmas is a 6″ x 6″ ceramic tile, hand-painted in acrylics in blues, greens and grays.

Details About the Piece: This piece is sealed in epoxy resin, that gives the painting a mirror-like” finish, with UV protection to protect against sunlight and fading. The piece is signed on the lower right and is backed with a 1/8″ thick piece of black felt to add stability and protect the piece from chipping or breaking.
