Harvest Guardian

The job of the scarecrow is to watch over the fields and to protect the farmer’s precious corn. Scarecrows are, by nature, meant to be scary, at least for crows, and, when used in your favorite Halloween decorations, for trick-or-treaters. Then in 1939 we were introduced to a not-so-scary one.  As a fan of the Wizard of Oz I’ve always be partial to the Scarecrow. That is the goal behind this piece: to share the love I have for the not-so-scary ones.

The background is painted in shades of yellows, browns and a little burnt sienna. These are the colors of fall and the texture adds age to the piece to resemble a vintage time.

This adorable thing couldn’t scare a crow but is sure to put a smile on your face.

This is an 8″ x 10″ unframed ceramic tile that is a great addition to your Fall or Halloween display, or keep it up all year as a reminder that the things you truly love don’t have a season.
