Step into the world of your favorite fairy tales with this beautiful Elven Princess.

When we were children there was nothing like getting drawn into the world of a good fairy tale. The stories of knights in shining armor, ethereal fairy lands and magical creatures scared you and thrilled you all at the same time. But more than anything else these stories were filled with beautiful illustrations that really set our imaginations into overdrive. It was easy to pour over pictures from artists like Eloise Wilkins, Sheila Beckett and Beatrix Potter and today, Christian Birmingham and K.Y. Craft. Their talents brought these stories to life. As a child I was fascinated with the colors and the illustrations and how a picture can tell a story in a way that words couldn’t fully convey, and as an adult I still find myself turning to fairy tale artists for inspiration. As an adult I have changed from the fairy tales of Hans Christian Anderson and the Brothers Grimm to the fantasies of William Shakespeare and J.R.R. Tolkien. The combination of stories like A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Lord of the Rings has left me with a need to create a painting inspired by these great authors.

The “Elven Princess” is a combination of fairies and elves such as Shakespeare’s “Titania” and Tolkien’s “Arwen” and “Galadriel”. She is painted in acrylics on 9” x 12” ceramic tile and sealed in epoxy resin, which helps the beauty of this piece last forever.

DETAILS OF THE PIECE:

This piece is sealed with a high-grade, epoxy resin, with UV protection to protect against sunlight and fading. The piece is signed on the lower right and is backed with a 1/8″ thick black felt to add stability and protect the piece from chipping or breaking.
